La Bastide Portoly is originally a traditional farmhouse. In the village Penne d'Agenais it is also called "Le petit château". The whole consists of the main house, a pigeonnier (pigeon tower) and a former plum drying (Pruneaux). More than 250 years old and full of history. It is amazing to realise how many generations have written their history in this house.
Lot-et-Garonne
Lot-et-Garonne has more than 300 hiking trails for all levels. Routes are well signposted, maintained and downloadable on the website of the departe-ment. For example the GR 654 which stretches over almost 150 km in Lot-et-Garonne. Enjoy valleys and orchards for an optimal nature experience!
Impressions
On the domain surrounding the house are beautiful ancient (cedar) trees. The estate of 5,5 hectares consists for a part of forest. You can walk straight from the garden into the forest for a lovely walk. With a bit of luck you might spot a roe deer or badger. Also the owl, a welcome guest, can be seen and heard every now and then at night.
Table d'Hôte
On request, we are happy to prepare a 3-course dinner for our guests. We serve French dishes as much as possible and use products from the region. Vegetarian is of course also possible. A local wine from the region, such as a typical Cahors wine, makes it complete.
The country house
More than 250 years of history
This stone country house is situated on a hill with magnificent views of the picturesque medieval town of Penne d'Agenais with its silver domed basilica. A substantial part of the estate consists of meadows where a diversity of wild plants and rare orchids grow. There are cosy corners everywhere where you can enjoy nature. Because of its unique location, there is a beautiful wide view over the the rolling hills with their plum orchards, sunflower fields and vineyards. Finally, an atmosphere of peaceful serenity.
